What's nearby?
Broadhaven is a non-commercialised coastal village about six miles from Haverfordwest. It has a popular safe sandy beach with rock pools at low tide. It is popular with surfers and windsurfers. Small craft can be launched from the beach. Diving is also popular in the local waters.
A Londis shop on the front is well stocked and sells most things including newspapers,videos, fresh bread and alcohol. It is also the local post office. There is a good pub/restaurant on the front as well as surf hire shop.
There are many local places to visit, including Wales' smallest City of St. Davids, the pretty harbour at Solva and many other fine beaches. There are miles of beautiful walking along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, running only a few minutes away from our apartment. Haverfordwest with its shopping centre is fifteen minutes drive away and Oakwood Theme Park is about half an hour away. Little Haven, the neighbouring village, which has several fine restaurants, is easily reached along the beach at low tide. Pembrokeshire has so much to offer everyone, whatever your interest, and if you're looking for fun you'll be spoilt for choice.
There are magnificent beaches at Broad haven, Newgale,Whitesands, Newport, Marloes, Freshwater West, Broadhaven South, Tenby and Saundersfoot.
Wildlife enthusiasts can visit the islands of Skomer, Ramsey,Caldey and the Welsh Wildlife centre at Cilgerran.
There are numerous ancient castles to visit, in particular Pembroke, Carew and Manorbier which host regular pageants. At St. David's you'll find the beautiful cathedral dedicated to Wales' patron saint.
There is quality golf at Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Tenby, Pembroke dock, St.Davids and Newport.
Walkers have 186 miles of coastal footpaths as well as beautiful inland stretches of estuary, woodland mountain and moorland.
There are lovely gardens to visit at Colby Lodge near Amroth (National Trust), Upton Castle and Picton Castle. We are just over an hour's drive from the National Botanical Gardens of Wales.
Oakwood, The Dinosaur park, Heatherton, Herons Brook, Folly Farm, Manor Park are major fun-packed attractions for the families with younger children.
Facilities for activities like pony trekking fishing, diving, boating , bowling, tennis and go-carting abound around the entire county. Watersports abound at Broadhaven, Newgale and Dale. |
